Background

The Centre for Applied Vision Research has an established reputation in improving methods for early detection of eye disease, novel approaches for assessing patient outcomes and systematic reviews within eye care and visual psychophysics.

Responsibilities

This job is ideal for an applicant with programming experience and trained in vision science. The applicant should have an interest in the development of instrumentation for investigating different aspects of visual performance using visual psychophysical techniques and the measurement of involuntary, visually-evoked responses using eye movements and pupil responses.

The main responsibilities include the programming and validation of novel algorithms and vision tests. The successful applicant will assist John Barbur with the design and validation of novel tests needed to study different aspects of visual performance with an emphasis on clinical applications and translational research.

Person Specification

The ideal applicant should have minimum of three years, post-doctoral experience in visual psychophysics and skills in the design and calibration of visual displays for vision research studies. Good working knowledge and experience with Matlab, C++, OpenGL are also essential.
