Collections Logistics and Services, based within Cambridge University Library, has a mix of exciting opportunities available, including both permanent and fixed term contracts. Successful candidates must have good organisational skills and be keen to deliver first class services. You will need to be confident using basic IT packages, with excellent verbal and written skills, and an ability to meet time-critical demands. A high degree of accuracy and methodical working are essential.
The Collections Logistics and Services department caters to many areas of the library and therefore the role holders will need to be flexible. The main tasks fall into three categories: Collections Logistics, Scan and Deliver, and Ingest.
The Collections Logistics team will undertake fetching of requested material, reshelving of returned books, and will work closely with the Ingest team retrieving material from around Cambridge University Libraries and processing it to be sent to the Library Storage Facility (LSF).
Within Scan and Deliver you would be expected to scan material using specialised software to send to Library users across the University. This service actively supports the Libraries Accessibility Service providing scans for disabled students.
All of these services work within the demands of external stakeholders and therefore are often time-critical. You would therefore need to work quickly, accurately and sometimes without supervision in order to ensure all the needs are met.
Please state in your application form whether you wish to be considered for a permanent role (4 positions available) or fixed term for 4 months (2 positions available) or both.
Whilst the positions are full time, we welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for flexible working arrangements. Please specify on your application if you would like to be considered for a flexible working arrangement.
We particularly welcome applications from candidates from a BME background for this vacancy as they are currently under-represented at this level in our institution.
