Postdoctoral Epidemiologist

The Nuffield Department of Population Health undertakes world-leading research into long term, chronic health conditions, operating large-scale long-term studies and projects to identify the causes, prevention and treatment of diseases that result in avoidable suffering for millions of people around the world.

 

We are seeking a postdoctoral epidemiologist with experience of epidemiological data analyses, to work as part of a team on a World Cancer Research Fund project jointly led by Dr Keren Papier and Dr Tammy Tong. The overall aim of the project is to understand how diet and blood proteins may jointly affect cancer development.

 

The successful candidate will design and conduct statistical analyses using large datasets like EPIC and UK Biobank. This includes studying circulating proteins, proteomic signatures, and the interplay between diet, genetics, and cancer risk—identifying novel proteins linked to diet-cancer associations. You will collaborate closely with the principal investigators, other epidemiologists, and research partners across the UK and Europe, including the WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer.

 

To be considered you will hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in epidemiology, nutritional epidemiology, molecular epidemiology, medical statistics or another relevant subject. You will also have demonstrated understanding and experience of a range of epidemiological and statistical concepts and techniques (e.g. prospective and cross-sectional study designs, and linear, logistic and Cox regression models). Experience of analysing dietary exposures or biomarkers, particularly omics, in relation to risk of non-communicable diseases would be desirable.

 

The position is offered as full time or part time, fixed term for three years.
