University of Cambridge - Cambridge Research Office

Location: Cambridge, Hybrid
Salary: £34,866 to £45,163 per annum
Hours: Part Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 27th January 2025
Closes: 19th February 2025
Job Ref: EW44803

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 year in the first instance.

Applications are welcome from internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the University's drive to enable external parties to utilise our shared research equipment. Based in the Research Operations Office (ROO), the role will develop and deliver a risk framework to support a new initiative; multi-department Equipment Access Agreements (EAA) for external parties wishing to use the shared equipment of signatory University of Cambridge departments. In addition, the post will deliver contract administration for the multi-department EAA according to standard University terms and conditions. This will form part of a timely service to industrial partners and ensure consistent, legally robust contract administration for the University.

The due diligence assessments on new contracting entities will be in line with the University's established risk processes for new research relationships and ensure compliance with relevant legislation relating to international engagement and digital security. The role will also provide a project-management function to guide academics & companies through the University processes, consolidating multiple departmental administrative reviews.

The ROO is part of the Unified Administrative Service and is responsible for the central administration and for taking a strategic role in the oversight & development of all aspects of the University's research activities. The post holder will be a member of the ROO's Due Diligence team, which has specialist expertise in managing third party risk assessments.

We are looking for an experienced administrator with an interest in legal frameworks & compliance, with excellent organisational & interpersonal skills. The post is offered for 12 months in the first instance, with the intention of continuation once established (subject to funding). Full training in due diligence is available.

The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. The aim of our approach is to enable as many staff as possible to work in a hybrid way if they wish & where their role allows, with the majority of time spent on-site.  This arrangement is subject to change and will not form a part of the contractual terms of the role.  The hours of work for the position are 50% of full-time / 18.5 hours per week, worked across three days with in-person working on Mondays and/or Thursdays.  The role would also benefit internal candidates looking for secondment opportunities.

Informal enquiries should be directed to Rebecca Reid (rebecca.reid@admin.cam.ac.uk).
