- THE ROLE -
The School of Biomedical Sciences is a vibrant and forward-thinking School, comprising ~75 researchers spanning nutrition, diabetes, genomic medicine, pharmaceutical sciences, and vision science. We have consistently achieved world-class rankings in successive Research Excellence Framework (REF) assessments and our ambition to conduct pioneering biomedical research continues with potential strategic projects in the areas of drug discovery, pharmaceutical and food innovation. The Optometry sub-school trains undergraduate optometrists and offers post-graduate, distance-learning Professional Certificates, which provides opportunities for registered optometrists to extend their clinical knowledge and skill sets.
The postholder will support the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, in particular to the Optometry undergraduate programme as it adapts to the General Optical Council’s new Education Training Requirements. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate qualities commensurate with the challenge of the position and will also be expected to support the University of Ulster through a range of associated duties, as deemed appropriate.
- ABOUT YOU -
The postholder will be required to have:
- A degree in Optometry.
- A Membership of the College of Optometrists (MCOptom) and registration with the General Optical Council as an Optometrist.
- Experience of teaching and assessment of clinical Optometry at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in an Optometry programme
