About the role
The Higgins group is seeking a research assistant to join a research project funded by the Gates Foundation, in which we aim to produce and test malaria vaccine immunogens designed through rational structure-guided approaches.
This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Gates Foundation for up to 24 months in the first instance.
The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.

About you
The post-holder will join an active research consortium and will work closely with other team members, taking responsibility for the pre-clinical testing of designed immunogens. They will produce protein, purify antibodies, conduct ELISA assays and assess growth inhibitory activity of antibodies in Plasmodium falciparum culture. They will also support the manager of our derogated category 3 culture room, maintaining stocks and helping with safety training for room users. This provides an exciting opportunity to engage in malaria vaccine development, while developing skills in both research and facility management.
