About the role

The Bodleian Public Engagement Team is recruiting a Public Engagement Officer to develop, coordinate and deliver a programme of engagement for adults, volunteers and community groups. 

You will support the Public Engagement Manager to deliver the Public Engagement element of the Bodleian Strategy. You will work creatively with University researchers, arts practitioners, internal and external stakeholders and partners to develop and deliver a successful programme of public engagement events and learning resources for adults and community groups, including digital and online outputs. You will also work with the Public Engagement Manager and the GLAM Assessment and Evaluation team to support the evaluation of the Libraries’ education activities, use evaluation data to make recommendations for future practice and help to provide a strong evidence base for our work. 

This is a full-time, permanent post, working 37.5 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends. 

Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. 

About You

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with significant experience working with adults and volunteers in a museum or library setting.

You will be an inspiring communicator, with the ability to develop relationships with a diverse range of people. 

You will have knowledge and understanding of learning through objects, preferably including material in special collections libraries and archives. 

You will have a positive approach to work, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

An understanding of evaluation and assessment methods with experience of forming evaluation questions and using audience data, is also essential.
