Mary Immaculate College (MIC) is an autonomous, university-level, Catholic College of Education and the Liberal Arts. Founded in 1898, and linked academically with the University of Limerick, MIC is the oldest higher education institution in Limerick. Significant expansion in recent decades has seen the College’s offerings proliferate across two impressive campuses, one based in the heart of Limerick City and one in Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Assistant Professor in Science Education MIC Limerick Campus
Mary Immaculate College wishes to appoint an Assistant Professor in Science Education on a full-time, permanent basis.
The Department of STEM Education provides undergraduate and postgraduate modules in STEM Education to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Education (International), Bachelor of Education in Education and Psychology, and the Professional Master of Education (Primary Teaching) programmes. The Department also offers a dedicated M Ed Specialism in STEM Education and has a body of students enrolled in research degrees at both Master's and Doctoral levels. Faculty in the Department also deliver modules on other MIC postgraduate programmes.
The Department of STEM Education is seeking an innovative faculty member to teach on Education programmes within the Faculty of Education. The person appointed will have duties in the area of Science Education and we welcome candidates with additional broad experience and interests in STEM education at primary or post-primary level. They will also have general duties in the area of education, e.g., supervision of School Placement, supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research.
