About the role:

This is a prestigious and critical post in Professor Darzi’s team. In this role you will provide excellent strategic and operational support to Professor Darzi. You will be responsible for the smooth running of the office, working with the Personal Assistant (PA) to provide high-quality support across Professor Darzi’s priorities. You will also play an important role in providing strategic and policy advice to Professor Darzi.

What you would be doing:

Working closely with the wider advisory team, you will ensure Professor Darzi is fully briefed and prepared for all activities within their remit. This will include commissioning and creating briefings, proactively communicating with internal teams, and preparing initial drafts of correspondence etc in accordance with business needs.

This is a fast-paced, varied role in a busy and supportive team. You will work with, and line manage, the PA, ensuring seamless executive support, travel arrangements and diary management across all areas. You will also act as the primary point of contact for Professor Darzi in connection with senior stakeholders all over the world, supporting specific initiatives and wider programmes. In addition, you will support with his parliamentary duties, including horizon scanning and briefing.

As the office acts as a hub for these activities it is necessary that support for Professor Darzi is seamless, and this post will be required to provide cover in the absence of the PA. This role therefore requires a presence in the office to ensure seamless co-ordination and support to Professor Darzi.

  • Proven experience working at a senior level, including complex stakeholder and portfolio arrangements
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to set, monitor and meet deadlines
  • Diplomatic and insightful communication skills to deal with complex situations and a range of people
  • Ability to be flexible to deal with and prioritise a variety of tasks
  • Understanding of the complexities inherent in managing sensitive and confidential information
