Chain-Florey Clinical Research Fellow Post-Doctoral
The Chain Florey Post-Doctoral Clinical Research Fellowship’s scheme provides a unique opportunity for clinician scientists who have recently completed their Foundation Years 1 and 2 and completed a PhD. We are seeking a clinician scientist with a research background in immunology, as this aligns with one of the LMS’ priorities of advancing our understanding of immune mechanisms and their implications in various diseases. The appointee will spend 12 months conducting research at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS). Drawing on the research strengths of the LMS, the Post-Doctoral Clinical Research Fellowship addresses an important gap in clinical academic career progression.
The Chain Florey Post-Doctoral Clinical Research Fellowship’s aim is to give the clinician scientist a year of full-time research to further their laboratory experience and gather preliminary data to support their academic progression.
What you would be doing
You will conduct laboratory research at the LMS to gather preliminary data and you will have the opportunity to collaborate with mentors at the LMS. You will gain research skills and will be able to attend relevant meetings, conferences and workshops. A 1-page project outline should be submitted with the application accompanied by a full CV and publication list. The proposed project should demonstrate potential for collaboration with at least one LMS research group. Short-listed candidates will be invited to a panel interview where they will share a 10-minute presentation of their research project outline, their background and future plans.
