The School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (SEE) in University College Dublin has a long and distinguished record of contribution and achievement in education and research.  The School has an international track record of research achievement across major fields of research including circuits, communications, and signal processing, as well as biomedical engineering and electrical power systems (please see our School website at http://www.ucd.ie/eleceng).  Its full-time academic staff includes five IEEE Fellows. The School is committed to the highest standards of undergraduate teaching, learning and student development within a research-informed environment.

In order to sustain growth in the integrated circuit design sector in Ireland, the School wishes to make a new strategic academic appointment in the subject area of Electronic Engineering.  Applications are invited from excellent candidates for the post of Ad Astra Fellow: Lecturer/Assistant Professor in RF Electronics.  Applications are particularly sought from individuals with circuit and system level expertise in RF electronics, especially in the area of energy-efficient implementations of digitally-assisted architectures for communications and sensing. Research synergy with existing faculty within the School and associated national Centres working in circuits, communications, signal processing is strongly desired. Collaboration with industry and participation in EU programmes are strongly encouraged.

Candidates should have the qualifications and experience to deliver high quality research-informed teaching and learning up to Masters level, contributing to Bachelors and Master degree programmes in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.  It is expected that the appointee to this position will have a promising trajectory of international-level research achievement in Electronic Engineering, as evidenced through publications. Furthermore, it is expected that the successful candidate will pursue an active research programme, publishing in leading international journals and conferences, and securing funding to support PhD students and post-doctoral researchers while participating fully in the programmes and academic activities of the School, College and University.

The person appointed will be located within the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and will be expected to develop as a leading figure in the Electronic Engineering community nationally and internationally, building and sustaining an internationally high-profile research team, and interacting with other disciplinary areas within and outside of the university, including national and international centres of excellence.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
