About the role
The University of Sussex and CPI TMD Technologies Ltd are looking to recruit a highly motivated and skilled research fellow in atomic clock development.
CPI TMD’s core business is the design, manufacture and supply of high-power microwave amplifiers and power supplies to the defense and communications industries. These products require extremely specialist manufacture and testing capability. The company is also pursuing the development of a third revenue stream of quantum-enabled sensing and timing products.
In this three-year project, you will complete the development of, and bring to market, a commercial off-the-shelf optical atomic clock based on a calcium ion frequency standard.

This 36-month project is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote beneficial relationships between universities and industry. You will be based with CPI-TMD and also have the opportunity to visit the beautiful University of Sussex campus.

The KTP associate will benefit from a tax-free Personal Development Budget of £6,000 and there is the potential to publish project output.
