About the Role
This role is part of a £3.2M investment by Barts Charity to develop genomic and epigenomic liquid biopsy analyses for diagnostics, as well as research applications across QMUL. Apart from driving their own research portfolio, the post holder will play a leading role in establishing infrastructure to enable other labs to develop their own liquid biopsy projects. The Senior Lecturer will foster and coordinate links between a newly established QMUL Centre for Epigenetics, computational scientists at the Digital Environment Research Institute (DERI), the Faculty’s Genome Centre core facility, clinicians and patients, as well as clinical and basic science researchers across the University. They will also make contributions to student education and experience through curriculum development and the delivery of teaching activities, as well as contribute as a senior academic to the wider achievements of the university.
About You
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Epigenomics, Molecular Genetics, or equivalent. A significant track-record of high-quality research in the field of Genomics/Epigenomics and/or cell-free DNA analysis is essential, as are a clear and ambitious plan for future research, and experience in bidding for and securing external research funding. Candidates will need the ability to develop and deliver research-led teaching and assessment and successfully supervise PhD students.
About the Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
