About the role:
We are currently seeking Business Lecturer to join our Business department at The Bedford College group.
As a Business Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Preparing, delivering, assessing and verifying subject specialisms within Business.
- Supporting and guiding students to achieve success and realise their potential.
- Managing students’ learning and providing a high-quality learning experience.
- Contributing pro-actively to developments in curriculum development and innovative teaching.
- Participating in marketing and promotion activities to support a range of programmes and learning opportunities.
- Keeping CPD in industry knowledge up to date.
- Teaching effectively on a range of Business programmes, levels and qualification types recognising and meeting students’ individual needs.
- Preparing schemes of work which are up to date and fully meet the requirements of awarding bodies.
- Researching, developing and effectively implementing new learning materials in a variety of media to engage students in learning.
- Assessing students’ work effectively to meet awarding body standards and carrying out verification and moderation.
- Meeting assessment deadlines as set by the awarding body and the college.
- Monitoring and recording students’ progress and acting to ensure students meet required standards and deadlines.
- Participating in effective internal verification and other quality procedures.
- Being responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns in line with college procedures.
- Being responsible for promoting equality and diversity in line with college procedures.
- Being responsible for following health and safety requirements in line with college policy and procedures.
- Participating proactively in training and development including qualification development required in the job role.
About you:
- Hold a degree or equivalent in a Business-related subject.
- Have a PGCE / Cert Ed qualification or be willing to work towards.
- Have English and mathematics at GCSE grade A-C (4 or above) or equivalent.
- Have recent professional updating in Business teaching and learning.
- Have recent experience teaching and assessing a range of Business programmes in an FE environment.
- Have knowledge of awarding body requirements such as BTEC, Gateway, NCFE and City & Guilds.
- Possess the ability to make a positive contribution to the team, valuing and respecting others’ expertise and contribution.
- Possess the ability to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and work effectively to deadlines.
- Possess the ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Be willing to continuously update skills and knowledge.
