The role

We are seeking an outstanding individual to join our world-class academics in He Rau Kawakawa (School of Pharmacy) at the University of Otago, in Te Wai Pounamu.

This is a full-time, confirmation appointment at Lecturer level, in the area of Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacy Practice. Appointment to the position of Lecturer is dependent on academic achievement, skills and experience.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Bringing research-informed expertise to the School of Pharmacy
  • Leading innovation and research-informed teaching in your area of expertise
  • Contributing to teaching in the pharmacy undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
  • Establishing and conducting an active research programme

Applicants should also have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching application of skills to enable best health outcomes.

You will join an enthusiastic group of staff in a research-active School which places high emphasis on quality research and research-informed teaching.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this key role you will preferably have the following:

  • A PhD degree in a relevant area or hold a similar level of clinical qualification
  • A pharmacy qualification registrable in New Zealand
  • A prescribing qualification is desirable
  • Post-doctoral research experience
  • Experience in designing and delivering in-person and online instructional workshops, training modules, and tutorials
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels
  • Leadership and team-building abilities
  • Good communication skills and an ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Commitment to Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori and the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • A commitment to supporting the University’s Māori, Pacific, and Sustainability strategic frameworks
  • Demonstrated capacity for independent research and a good record of publications in refereed journals
