About the role… 

This position is for a (Senior) Laboratory Research Scientist ((S)LRS) to work within the Stem Cell and Human Developmental Biology Laboratory led by Dr Naomi Moris. The postholder will provide support for lab management and administration as well as managing their own research project generating knock in/out stem cell lines using CRISPR. Research in the Moris lab includes using stem cell-based embryo models to explore principles of development, using various experimental techniques. 

Much remains to be discovered about the molecular and genetic basis of human embryonic development, especially regarding the emergence of the body plan. Research in the Developmental Models laboratory aims to uncover the principles of human embryonic development using the cutting-edge in vitro model systems. Our findings aim to unravel principles of embryogenesis, including the co-development of tissues and organ primordia. 

What you will be doing… 

As a (S)LRS at the Crick, you will:  

  •  Manage you own research project generating knock-in/out cell lines and downstream characterisation 
  •  Contribute towards maintaining a lab environment conducive to high-level research including for example, maintenance of safety standards, restocking and purchasing, general organisation 
  •  Organise lab supplies and rotas, lab meeting schedules, shipments and deliveries 
  • Attend internal interest groups, lab meetings and scientific conferences 

About you…  

You will bring… 

  • A strong background in development and stem cell biology, or related fields with a biology or related degree
  • Experience of running projects independently 
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent record keeping
  • Creative problem-solving ability
