The Governing Body of St Anne's College invites applications for the Kathleen Bourne Junior Research Fellowship in French Studies, tenable from 29 September 2025 for a fixed term of two years. The Fellowship is offered for research in French and Francophone Studies.
The JRF is open to those at an early stage of their academic career. You will hold a PhD/DPhil or be near to completion, with a high level of research ability and strong record of education.
Applications will be judged on the basis of the candidate’s potential to undertake a significant and exciting programme of research in an area of French Studies, as evidenced by their research proposal, publication record and academic references.

One of the largest Colleges in the University of Oxford, with around 860 students, St Anne’s is down to earth, ambitious, outward facing and collaborative. We aspire to understand the world and change it for the better.
French at St Anne’s currently comprises one Tutorial Fellow in French and Comparative Literature and two Stipendiary Lecturers. These academics are responsible for teaching and advising our French students at all levels. The College currently admits around six undergraduates in French per year, creating cohorts of 24 at any one time. The study of French at Oxford is part of the wider Faculty of Modern Languages, which also includes Spanish, German, Italian and Portuguese.
