Structure: Elizabeth School of London has established an Executive Leadership Team to support its strategic initiatives. The Executive structure is split into three Divisions with their Division Heads reporting directly to the Provost:

  • Academic Services
  • Educational Services
  • Corporate services

The Role: We are seeking an inspiring and forward-thinking Head of Division, Academic Services to lead and manage our Academic Services Division. In this executive leadership role, you will play a critical part in shaping the academic direction of the institution, driving strategic initiatives, and overseeing key functions within the division. This is a leadership position where you will have the chance to make a real difference, ensuring the delivery of high-quality academic services that enhance the student experience, uphold academic standards, and support the growth and success of Elizabeth School of London. The Division Head is expected to take the position of Head of Academic Services and will line manage the following positions:

  • Head of Student Success and Experience
  • Partnership and Academic Deans

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Management: Provide strong leadership and direction to the heads of the departments within the Academic Services Division.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to support the institution's academic goals and objectives.
  • OfS conditions of registration: Ensure the institution meets the OfS’s initial and ongoing Conditions of Registrations in relation to student outcomes (B3) and all other B conditions.
  • Student Experience and success: Working with department heads within the division, ensure setting and maintaining framework for Student Voice and Experience.
  • Resource Management: Ensure optimal allocation and utilisation of resources across the division.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate the performance of the departments, ensuring alignment with institutional standards and objectives.
  • Policy Development: Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure adherence to academic standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including university partners and professional bodies.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with the division's operations.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage the division's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with the regulatory framework of the Office for Students, FHEQ, and the Quality Code of Higher Education.
  • Pedagogical Development: Lead the development and enhancement of teaching and learning practices.
  • Research and Scholarship: Foster a research-oriented teaching environment and support academic staff in their research endeavours.
  • Student Outcomes: Enhance student outcomes to meet sector and regulatory benchmarks.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Doctorate degree is desired in a relevant field but postgraduate qualification with strong research activity will be accepted.
  • Experience:
    • Proven track record of leading an Academic Division in Higher Education.
    • Proven track record of working with a geographically diverse setting with a large student body.
    • Experience of developing and implementing strategies to support students from diverse backgrounds.
    • Senior or Principal Fellowship of Advance HE.
    • Experience in pedagogical development of teaching and learning.
    • Complete understanding of the Office for Students conditions of registration related to teaching and learning.
    • Experience in enhancing student outcomes to meet sector and regulatory benchmarks.
    • Experience of working with multiple university partners.
    • Understanding and experience of ensuring compliance with FHEQ and the Quality Code of Higher Education.
    • Experience of engaging with professional and statutory bodies.
    • Desired experience in external examinership and/or quality or standards reviews.
    • Proven track record of line managing senior academic staff, including Deans.
    • Experience in risk management and budget management.
    • Experience in chairing high level Academic meetings.
