The role:

An exciting opportunity has become available to work full time on a 2-month industry-led research project. The project objectives are to design and characterise a new-to-market multiprotocols 5G/Wi-Fi 6/6E product with an energy harvesting capability. The product will be used for real-time RF energy harvesting and/or power transfer and information gathering. It will embed new design and manufacturing capabilities within the business, to meet existing and emerging new business opportunities.

The company is a UK-based manufacturer of internet of things and radio communication interface systems. They are a UK market leader in their industry.

About you:

The successful candidate will hold a good honours / MSc degree and PhD (or equivalent professional experience) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (specialising in RF Communication Subsystems Design) or equivalent.

Experience is also required in the following areas:

  • analogue and digital circuits design;
  • RF and radio access technologies (including wireless standards and 4G/5G) desired;
  • electrical power storage, management and supply design;
  • embedded system design (using FPGA and/or microcontrollers);
  • RF antenna and chipset circuits characterisation;
  • 3D industry-standard EDA/RF design software package (e.g., Advanced Design System);
  • RF products testing and measurement; and
  • 3D manufacturing.
