Sheffield Hallam’s School of Health and Social Care is one of the UK’s leading teaching centres of health education and one of the first universities to offer Allied Health Professions Degree Apprenticeship Courses.
We are growing our Occupational Therapy team due to continued expansion of our teaching portfolio. Our teaching team has a range of expertise in all areas of occupational therapy and is responsible for a distinctive and high-quality education portfolio which includes the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, BSc Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship, the pre-registration MSc Occupational Therapy and MSc Advanced Practice in Sensory Integration. In addition, the team contributes to cross- Department and cross-College teaching including inter-professional education and CPD provision.
You will be involved in the delivery of our MSc Occupational Therapy course and inter-professional portfolio where there will be opportunities to take on academic leadership responsibilities. We are looking for an individual who can inspire our students, and make a valuable contribution to their learning experience, whilst preparing them for contemporary practice. Alongside this, is the opportunity to develop your career to further your own clinical academic profile and enhance your teaching accessing a PG Cert in HE in Teaching and Learning.
You must be an HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist and have well-developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical, and theoretical issues relevant to contemporary practice and pre-registration education.
You will ideally be at the forefront of new ways of working in the NHS, in either primary or secondary settings, demonstrating care innovation and emergent management pathways.
We are currently developing a team of senior lecturers to support placement learning and simulation activities. It is envisaged that this post will lead, and co-ordinate placement learning for our MSc Occupational Therapy course, supporting innovation and quality of occupational therapy practice education in higher education whilst continuing to build and retain strong links with our employers and stakeholders.
The role also requires you to contribute to our pre-registration courses through teaching, assessing and academic citizenship/research activity. The ability to inspire, enthuse and connect with a range of backgrounds is required. You will support students’ academic, and placement learning progression and work collaboratively to enhance the student experience.
