About The Role

This key position is based in the Student Life Directorate. Working as a team with the other SIAs in MyUniHub and with other colleagues to deliver a welcoming, positive and supportive front of house operation and to provide support and assistance to the Student Information Officers and MyUniHub Manager as required.

The primary aim of the Student Information Assistant (Bi-lingual) is to provide a courteous welcome to MyUniHub and be the first point of contact for a diverse range of students and visitors. To deal with all queries in a professional, efficient, sensitive and courteous manner whether they are in person, by telephone or by email. Where possible respond to queries at first contact or direct people to appropriate sources of information and contacts where an initial response is not possible. To deal with all queries confidentially and diplomatically in line with Data Protection Regulations.  

Candidates should have a sound basic education. Equivalent of 5 GCSEs including minimum of Grade ‘C’ in Maths and English and whilst we do not require a Welsh qualification for this position, applicants will need to demonstrate their ability to understand a fair range of job-related correspondence, including when standard language is used; keep up a simple conversation on a work related topic, but may need to revert to English to discuss complex or technical information and able to write reasonably accurate reactive (non-specialised) correspondence in Welsh.

Experience of working in a customer focused environment, ideally in a front of house position and extensive experience of administrative work, ideally with student facing experience and within in a busy and pressurised environment.

Candidates should include reference to the values and personal attributes within their applications, in addition to the essential and desirable criteria. The panel will be assessing against all of these skills and attributes.

Welsh Language Skills

The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 3 - Fluently. The role holder will be able to conduct a fluent conversation in Welsh on a work-related matter and write original Welsh material with confidence.
