Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering (Environmental and Water Engineering)

The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) is the first and only public, English-medium, and independent University in Iraq. The University was founded in 2006 by the current President of the Kurdistan Region, His Excellency Nechirvan Barzani. It is dedicated to being the region’s leading centre of excellence in research and teaching and is committed to the dissemination and application of knowledge to further the industrial, economic, cultural, environmental and social development of the region.

Over the past fifteen years it has grown to over 2,200 students and around 180 staff with a diverse society of students, academics, scientists and admin staff who are responsible for offering a high standard education in different areas.

UKH is making significant investments in new academic positions to support its strategic development within the next five years. We seek to recruit academic professionals who will contribute to the success and growth of our School and its Programmes by engaging in teaching, research, and administrative activities across a broad range of disciplines. 

We are currently seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering (Environmental and Water Engineering). This role will report directly to the Dean of the School of Science and Engineering.

Ideal candidates will possess extensive knowledge and experience in one or more of the following fields: Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, Sustainability and Water Recycling, Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability, Hydraulic Engineering, and Geotechnical Engineering. You will be expected to produce high-quality research published in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals and to actively pursue external funding by developing applications to relevant funding bodies.

As an Assistant Professor, your primary focus will be on teaching excellence, creating engaging and innovative learning experiences that foster exceptional student outcomes. You will also engage in high-quality research and scholarly activities that contribute to your discipline and enhance your teachings.

Candidates must hold a recognised Teaching Certificate at the university level, be fluent in English, and have a proven track record of teaching in their area of specialisation.
