Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract

The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.

The Strategic Research Development (SRD) Team plays an important role in identifying opportunities and brokering collaborations around large-scale research initiatives, providing dedicated support to the development, submission and set up of strategic research proposals for external funders (public, corporate, and charitable). Crucially, the SRD Team also supports the development of strong investment propositions to the University’s Strategic Research Fund (SRF), which was created in response to Priority 10 of the University’s Strategic Plan 2018-2024, to increase the University’s capacity to make major transformative investments in researchers and research.

What We Offer

As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:

  • An excellent contributory pension scheme
  • 38 days annual leave
  • A comprehensive range of childcare services
  • Family leave schemes
  • Cycle loan scheme
  • Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans
  • Membership to a variety of social and sports clubs

This role also offers the opportunity for hybrid working. The opportunity of part-time working can be discussed for an exceptional candidate.

About the Role

As an SRD Manager you will assist and advise academic and professional services colleagues in the development of all aspects of collaborative, multidisciplinary, multi-partner research funding proposals (high value, complex, or strategically significant grants); develop processes and support services to facilitate major applications and awards; facilitate the inception of research programs by linking pre-award and post-award research administration (including the organisation of collaboration agreements and research related contracts); and contribute to the development of divisional or University-wide externally funded strategic partnerships.

About You

Are you a research facilitator or manager, with experience of developing and delivering multi-partner collaborative research proposals?  To be successful in this varied and interesting role, you will need excellent organisational, demonstrable communication, and teamworking skills, as well as client liaison expertise. You will have experience of conducting research or of research programme management in higher education or equivalent setting. You will be a proactive, flexible problem-solver, with evidence of strategic thinking, analytical ability and knowledge of the UK and international research funding and policy landscape. Experience of post-award project implementation would be an advantage. For this fixed-term position, we would consider an opportunity for an excellent Grade 7 Facilitator to develop their skills, and adjust the responsibilities of the role accordingly.

Application Process

You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.

The closing date for applications is 9th January 2025.

Interviews will take place during week commencing 27th January 2025, and will be online.
