The Institute of Irish Studies at the University of Liverpool and the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies at the University of Notre Dame will jointly sponsor and manage a 3-year fixed-term Global Strategy Programme Manager post which will be located at the University of Liverpool.
The post will develop and deliver a strategy for Global Irish Studies that encompasses shared programmes that promote research, external income, and the global visibility of Irish Studies. Through this joint initiative a worldwide community of Irish Studies institutions and practitioners will be created to modernise, develop and sustain Irish Studies as a respected discipline within academia and build ‘trusted advisor’ relationships with governments and other decision makers. The role encompasses strategy development, programme management, and developing the governance arrangements to manage the new partnership between Liverpool and Notre Dame universities in jointly delivering this global initiative.
The role will also involve mobilising existing (non-academic) resources within Notre Dame and Liverpool which will provide support to the programme around event organisation, social media strategies etc. You will establish a consultative and advisory board to provide expert advice and guidance for the programme. You will manage subject matter boards and working groups to develop ideas on how to build and sustain Irish Studies and generate inter-disciplinary research. You will also plan and deliver an annual global congress bringing together all stakeholders to present the outputs of the programme and provide opportunities to critique, further develop and adopt new approaches. A key focus of the programme will be to nurture collaboration and build partnerships.
You should have a degree or equivalent qualification, or relevant professional experience.
This post is offered on a fixed term basis, until January 2028.
