A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy and friendly research institute as a HR Administrator. The Gurdon Institute is a department of the University of Cambridge at the cutting edge of science, with 12 research groups, carrying out research on projects related to cancer and developmental biology.
We are looking for a friendly, flexible and enthusiastic team player, who is willing to learn and develop as part of a wider group of friendly and highly skilled professional services staff. Main duties will include:
-Acting as first point of contact for HR-related queries.
-Providing HR administrative support.
-Updating HR systems for recruitment, sickness, annual leave, probation, staff reviews, staff records etc.
-Completing HR paperwork as required.
-Organise inductions for new members of the Institute.
-Setting up visitor agreements.
-Acting as secretary for the Wellbeing, Inclusivity, Diversity and Equality Committee.
-Provide cover for the reception team when required.
Essential skills for this post are:
-Educated to GCSE level or have equivalent practical experience.
-Previous HR administrative experience and be used to dealing with confidential information.
-Excellent communication and organisational skills.
-Competent user of Microsoft Office.
-High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
-Be able to communicate effectively with a range of colleagues across the Institute.
-Knowledge of university HR systems would be an advantage
