Background
This is an opportunity to help take the University of Birmingham on the journey to become a Top 50 Global University following decades of being one of the most successful and important Universities in the UK.
The Assistant Director of Estates Operations will lead and manage a team of over two hundred staff and contractors to deliver planned, statutory, and reactive maintenance to over 250 buildings, at one of the most beautiful and distinctive Russell Group universities.
With the arrival of a new Director of Estates this spring, the department is ready to deliver service transformation and put customer service at the heart of what we do and make significant investments in maintaining our legacy buildings as well as continuing to invest in our capital programme.
As we prepare to celebrate our 125th Anniversary Year, there has never been a more exciting or promising time to join this new team.
We are looking for a talented, experienced operations manager who can inspire and motivate a large inhouse team supported by contractors. Somebody who understands that delivering excellence in Estates management is as much about people as it is buildings.
Comfortable working with and leading experts across electrical, mechanical, and building fabric services, you will be familiar with the principles of life-cycle asset-management, building infrastructure, and an expert in statutory compliance and health and safety.
You will be capable of developing, reviewing and improving processes; and putting customer experience at the heart of your decision making.
