The College invites applications for this post, which is tenable for a fixed period of three years from 1 October 2025 based in New College, Oxford. The Spooner JRF is offered in the field of Engineering. The Fellowship is non-stipendiary, and applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have adequate funding to support their work in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. The Fellowship is open to those who have already acquired a first degree, and who at the time of appointment have completed at least two years’ study for a PhD/DPhil.
Candidates may not previously have held a Junior Research Fellowship or comparable appointment of more than two years (excluding breaks for parental/caring leave etc).
The Fellowship carries no stipend. The Fellow is entitled to a housing allowance (currently £2,571 p.a.) or to free accommodation in College if suitable rooms are available. In addition, Fellows are entitled to free lunch and dinner at the common table when this is available, and to use a research account (£1,700 p.a.). The post also comes with an entertainment account of £285 p.a.
The appointment will be for a fixed period of three years without possibility of renewal.
