Job description:
University of Sheffield seeking world leading translational researchers in academic and clinical oncology.
We are recruiting high-performing cancer research leaders to join us to help build a future where more people with cancer survive and live longer, thanks to the research we do here at Sheffield, one of the best centres in the country for patient-focused cancer research.
Our pioneering work discovered the role of Lynparza (Olaparib) for tumours with imperfect DNA repair. This is now saving lives all around the world and has provided us with unprecedented multi-million-pound funding to deliver innovative healthcare that meets the needs of our local diverse communities. You will be able to apply for dedicated cancer research funding to build your team via the Yorkshire Cancer Research (YCR) Sheffield Pioneers fund and the YCR More Life to Live fund, annual schemes ringfenced for applications led by Sheffield investigators.
This is a tremendous opportunity to drive forward our tradition of excellence in clinical and translational research for the benefit of all our communities, work with our partners to address inequalities in healthcare and pursue our ambition for a new Cancer Research Centre at Sheffield to facilitate our vision.
Seeking world-leading researchers
As part of an ambitious and ongoing plan for strategic growth in Cancer Research at the University of Sheffield, we are looking to appoint up to five world-leading clinical and translational academics into a range of roles including professorial. With five inter-related themes of research addressing cancer research from; prevention to screening, diagnosis, treatment, follow up, palliation, survival and quality of life, we can accommodate a wide range of interests whilst retaining relevance to the cancers that most affect our population.
You will join a friendly, highly collegial, innovative and collaborative research environment and, as a leader in your field, be excited by the opportunity to shape the cancer research agenda at the University of Sheffield; a top 100 University in the QS World Rankings with our research ranked in the top 10 for impact (REF2021).
You will have a generous package to support your research, which includes research consumables, staff and funding for PhD student(s), plus a dedicated relocation service to help you settle in at Sheffield.
If you share our ambitions and drive to make a positive difference, we would be delighted to talk to you.
