DN Colleges are seeking a committed and experienced Lead Exams Officer to join our Exams team, in the Student Information Services directorate. This role is pivotal in leading and managing a high-performing team across two sites (Doncaster and Scunthorpe), working closely with curriculum areas to deliver a wide range of exams data-related and administrative duties. The successful candidate will ensure the provision of a professional and customer-focused service to both internal and external stakeholders, maintaining high standards of data quality and management as the designated Exams Officer. You will act as the main point of liaison between DN Colleges and JCQ, and be responsible for SENCo liaison.
The ideal candidate will have experience in an Exams Lead role within a Further Education setting.
There is a requirement in this role to travel between both Doncaster College and North Lindsey College
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a high-performing team, ensuring the delivery of a professional and customer-focused service. You will motivate, develop and coach team members, assessing performance an workload to ensure efficiency across the team.
- Data Administration: Provide high-quality student data-related administration services such as administration of online and paper-based exams processes and activities, and access arrangements, adhering to statutory body policies and regulations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the team’s functions are met, consulting with internal stakeholders on your technical expertise, and advising the Business Manager as required.
- Data Systems Management: Use and maintain the college’s student data systems, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.
- Training Delivery: Prepare training materials and deliver effective training and support to team members, develop and deliver exams-related training to the group.
- Business Transformation: Identify and drive business transformation initiatives to simplify processes and reduce workload. Contribute significantly to the development of the department’s self-assessment report.
- Project Work: Lead or assist in project work supporting the group’s strategic plan.
- Funding Methodologies: Stay updated with relevant funding methodologies and procedures, cascading changes to staff and revising processes as required.
- Audit Support: Play a key role in supporting internal and external audits, working with senior managers to support group quality processes.
Essential Criteria:
- Level 4 or higher qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent appropriate experience/technical expertise within the education sector.
- GCSE English and Maths at grade /4 or higher.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a high-performing team, including performance management and staff development.
- Maintaining expert knowledge in funding methodologies, and a strong understanding of student data-related administration and data management.
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional and customer-focused approach.
- In-depth working experience of using IT tools to work efficiently and accurately.
- Ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and workload management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive business transformation and process improvement.
- Excellent communication, reporting and analytical skills.
