EUSA - Academic Internship Experts - EUSA Academic Internship Experts

Location: London
Salary: Not Specified
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 19th December 2024
Closes: 12th January 2025

EUSA proposes to appoint a lecturer with an ability to teach an upper level undergraduate writing-intensive course in one of the following areas:

Literary Texts and the Experience of Transformation

Drawing upon a play, a short story, poetry and two novels by such writers as Evelyn Waugh, Claudia Rankine, Tom Stoppard and JK Rowling, this course examines the fundamentals of literary vocabulary and analysis with the objective of rethinking ideas about identity.

Ghost Stories and their Cultural, Historical and Political Contexts

This class draws upon sociologist Avery Gordon’s claim that haunting produces a “something-to-be-done” dynamic by unsettling ordinary life, making the invisible visible, and introducing trouble.

Literary Families

Utilising novels, poems, plays and a graphic narrative which reflect the British context for teaching delivery, this course examines literary portrayals of families.

Coming of Age in Britain and Ireland

This course examines constructions of childhood and adulthood, literature and place, gender and development as elements of social, historical and economic processes.

The course with the best lecturer fit will be a part of a study abroad programme delivered in London on behalf of a leading American university (a Top 100 college according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 rankings). The start date for the teaching will be at the end of August 2025 and conclude at the end of October 2025. There will be forty contact hours in total. While all the course options above have been approved by the relevant authorities on the home campus, the appointed lecturer will be required to flavour the syllabus to take into account the cross-cultural nature of the education abroad experience. These syllabus adjustments will be needed by early February. Zoom interviews will take place in the week beginning 20 January 2025.  The successful applicant will have a relevant doctorate or be an established writer on the topic in question, and have appropriate teaching experience at undergraduate level
