Our Centre for Military Research, Education & Public Engagement is currently the only research, education, public engagement, and practice unit in Scotland dedicated to the armed forces, which has previously received Gold and Sliver awards from the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme.
To help us maintain this position, we are currently recruiting a Deputy Director/Associate Professor to support the growth and development of the Centre for Military Research, Education and Public Engagement in partnership with the Director of the Centre, the armed forces and the wider community.
The Role:
As a Deputy Director/Associate Professor at the Centre for Military Research, Education and Public Engagement, you will have the opportunity to use your extensive experience of research and project proposal development/award, to lead on the development of research objectives, projects and proposals specifically related to studies conducted by Edinburgh Napier University, Centre for Military Research Education and Public Engagement and in partnership with Scotland’s Veterans Wellbeing Alliance.
The role will provide you with the remit to use your skills in bid and journal article writing to maximise opportunities for national and international collaboration, building on the initial connections made at the first international conference led by the Centre’s Director.
Furthermore, your knowledge and good working understanding of the UK armed forces will serve you well as you create and implement your vision of how the Centre could grow and develop, in partnership with the Director.
We anticipate that you will have a national /international reputation in your field (amongst peers or clients or both) and be in a position to use this to participate in and develop external networks, for example to identify sources of funding, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to teaching and learning programmes, decide on research programmes and methodologies and use your specialist knowledge in the discipline to act as a divisional leader, project managing several major projects and supporting the team in generating new ideas and solutions which in turn will inform policy making and practice at a national and international level.

Fixed Term – 24 months, Part time – 21 hours per week
46 days (36 days flexible + 10 fixed) paid annual leave per annum (prorated accordingly)
