We require an experienced veterinary surgeon to assist with first opinion clinical service provision and teaching, from January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. This post provides an exciting opportunity to participate  in teaching 4th, 5th and 6th year veterinary undergraduates with the caseload primarily from the RSPCA Clinic, Cambridge. Additional first opinion cases are seen through the Department's staff pet scheme. This role involves working three days per week, with flexibility on the specific days. However, availability on Fridays is essential.

First opinion cases currently undergo most of their further investigations at the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital with assistance from Specialists when required, and you will be encouraged to take an active role in the work up and management of these cases.

This role will also involve teaching of small animal neutering, dental and other routine surgeries to small groups of final year veterinary students at the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital. There will be the opportunity to facilitate communication skills sessions with veterinary undergraduate students, and you may also be required to participate in other aspects of teaching the clinical theory course.

You may be expected to participate in an evening and weekend duty rota.

You must be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, or hold a degree qualifying them for membership, and have a minimum of three years' experience in first opinion small animal practice. Teaching experience, although not essential, is desirable.
