The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is seeking a Head of Research Governance and Integrity to lead our Research Governance and Integrity Office. You will be the responsible for research governance, quality, ethics and research integrity, providing specialist support to a wide range of stakeholders, including academic and professional services colleagues across LSHTM’s three Faculties, two MRC Units, and Central Services.
You will be responsible for the management and oversight of LSHTM’s Research Ethics Committees, working closely with the Chairs to ensure good practice and consistency in reviewing applications. They will act as the legal Sponsor under the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations and the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care, and as the Designated Individual under the Human Tissue Act. You will lead on the promotion of good research conduct and embedding a culture of research integrity across LSHTM, in line with the Concordat to Support Research Integrity. You will also coordinate and lead initial investigations into research misconduct, in accordance with LSHTM policy and procedures along with being responsible for the line management of four members of staff within the Research Governance and Integrity Office.
You should hold relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent relevant experience. You must have substantial experience of research governance and integrity. Applicants should have expert knowledge of research governance related legislation and policies along with experience working in a senior research governance and integrity role, excellent communications and organisation skills. The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and permanent.
The salary will be on the Professional Services salary scale, Grade 8 in the range £62,928 - £72,092 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
