The Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU), usually based at Southampton General Hospital, manages a growing portfolio of multi-centre clinical trials that will directly influence routine clinical practice.
Due to new grant awards we have a vacancy for a Clinical Trial Monitor to join the Quality, Pharmacovigilance and Monitoring team to monitor one or more clinical trials. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous clinical trials experience to join a CTU which has full registration status from the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC). Successful candidate will be appointed at level 3.
The successful applicant will ideally have experience of working on clinical trials within the NHS or commercial health research sector. Experience of oncology trials would be an advantage but not essential. The successful applicant will also have excellent organisation and communication skills, a good understanding and knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and clinical trial regulations.
The role involves travel to trial sites (both hospital and GP surgeries) in the UK. This will be assessed on a continuing basis and will be in line with Government and University recommendations.
To note, at this time we are working flexibly, with a mix of home and office based working.
The employing organisation is the University of Southampton which offers a competitive salary, pension scheme and other benefits. The post is offered on a fixed term contract, for 2 years, in the first instance with the possibility of an extension. This is a full time post but part time will be considered.
The CTU is part of a strong research environment in Southampton which includes the Cancer Research UK Clinical Centre, Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility and NHS R&D Management.
