The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking to appoint one full time, open-ended, teaching-focused Lecturer to its Department of Psychology.

The Opportunity:

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching within the department, joining a collaborative team responsible for the design and delivery of the quantitative methods curriculum (taught in R) across Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes. They will play a key role in ensuring that courses are engaging, innovative, and aligned with current developments in the field, while supporting students in their academic and professional growth. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to coordinate a team of tutors to ensure the successful delivery of teaching.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • You will have experience of teaching research methods and statistics, supported by a relevant qualification (normally a PhD or equivalent);
  • You will have proven experience in teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including engagement with course/curriculum design and development; 
  • You have experience with the open-source software R and RStudio, and experience on how to implement/teach statistical methods in R;
  • You will have a positive and collegiate attitude towards teaching and wider departmental responsibilities;
  • You will aspire to motivate, support, and lead students, teaching teams, and colleagues.

Application Procedure:

Applicants should upload a cover letter into the online application portal along with a CV and an A4 page summarising one potential UG and one potential PG project at taught MSc level (for the range of MSc programmes available in the department, see our website) that the candidate would offer to our dissertation students. These documents must be uploaded in all cases.

We will seek letters of reference for those shortlisted for interview unless specifically stated otherwise on the application form.
