Academic Registry wish to appoint an Assistant Registrar (Academic Quality & Standards) to work independently and collaboratively with Academic Registry, academic, administrative, and professional services colleagues, to develop and implement quality assurance and standards policy. 

About the role

Priorities will vary from cyclical service delivery and improvement, to the delivery of policy recommendations and projects. You will focus on academic quality and standards areas such as:

  • Delivering strategic education projects. 
  • Identifying and monitoring risk and risk mitigation for compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including Office for Students Conditions of Registration.
  • Developing and maintaining policy frameworks and student and assessment regulations.
  • Providing and managing training and guidance for colleagues in support of effective quality assurance processes. 

There will be significant opportunity for engagement with the wider University and higher education sector, and for personal professional development in the area of academic quality assurance and standards.

You will

  • have an expert understanding of regulatory requirements, key considerations and sector best practice within UK higher education. 
  • actively work to build excellent relationships with team members and stakeholders within Academic Registry and across the University. 
  • as a manager, enjoy supporting the professional development of yourself and your team, and you will draw from your experiences of positively supporting colleagues through change.
  • be passionate about managing a responsive service to a range of colleagues. 
  • have a collaborative and consultative approach, and a strong interest in continuous improvement.
  • be confident in making evidence-based recommendations and decisions about change, and be committed to seeing these changes through to implementation and monitoring. 
  • bring your excellent planning and communications skills together to effectively deliver priorities and projects across our services.
