Background

We are looking for an inspiring educator, capable of captivating students of all levels and the public with your clear and engaging communication. You will have an extensive background in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy practice with proven clinical skills demonstrated in a relevant healthcare setting. Your teaching will not only inform but also ignite passion, drawing from your own clinical expertise and scholarship to deliver exceptional education and set our graduates up for future success throughout their career.

You will be looking to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of physiotherapy, leading and enhancing our programmes to ensure an outstanding educational journey for our students. Your enthusiasm for educating future physiotherapists will drive you to advance your own teaching and learning practices and develop those around you. You’ll be a cornerstone in healthcare education, providing unwavering academic and pastoral support to students, ensuring they receive an exceptional learning experience.

In the realm of management and administration, you’ll be a leader and a collaborator, steering activities within the School and more widely across the University. Your contributions will be substantial, whether through curriculum development, public engagement, widening participation, or outreach initiatives. You’ll embody academic citizenship, fostering respectful and supportive relationships with staff and students alike, positively influencing their roles.

Role Summary

The role holder will be based in Edgbaston. The key duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to: giving lectures and seminars and supervising undergraduate / post-graduate students, course development and innovation, taking an active part in examinations, carrying out innovative research and writing papers on topics relevant to the specialist subject area (this will include journals, books and other material), and obtaining research grant funding.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in a relevant specialist subject area, as well as postdoctoral experience. We are looking for candidates who will actively contribute to our portfolio and community, through pursuit of research that will bring new opportunities, synergies, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will also have a track record in teaching at a higher education institution.

Appointments will be made at either an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level please specify which role you are applying for in the application.
