An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Anatomical Sciences Section at SGUL for an Anatomy Suite Manager. The post holder will, under the supervision and in collaboration with the Head of the Anatomy Section, co-ordinate the operation of the multi-disciplinary anatomical section to provide appropriate service to support the delivery of all under- and postgraduate curricula delivered by the facility, postgraduate training and where applicable, research programmes.
The post holder will manage members of the technical, prosector and administrative team and work closely with the head of section and academic module leaders of the courses.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the facility is fit for purpose and ensure compliance with the Human Tissue Act 2004 (as Designated Individual) and health and safety legislation.
The post holder will also be responsible for the preparation, maintenance and management of practical teaching materials necessary for delivery within the section.
The post holder will join a vibrant and innovative team of academics, clinicians and support staff to deliver at under- and post-graduate level on courses including Medicine, Biomedical Science, Physicians Associate Studies and a wide range of healthcare related programmes. Practical activities take place in the Anatomy Suite with a focus on cadaveric resources, prepared using formalin and soft fix approaches, supported by potted pathological specimens, anatomical models and audio-visual equipment.
Applicants must hold a first degree in an anatomically related subject, have proven experience of management within an Anatomy/Teaching facility, and have working knowledge and experience of implementation of HTA Codes of Standards and Practice and regulatory procedures.
At interview, candidates will be expected to deliver a 10-minute presentation: ‘Applicants will be required to deliver a 10-minute presentation. ‘As AS manager, outline your understanding of the main responsibilities and considerations of your role. Then consider a typical day managing a dissection room facility, to include your staff team of Embalming officer, Technician, Prosector and Administrator. Outline and discuss the key activities for consideration for each of your team and how you would monitor and follow these. Discuss any challenges you may encounter and how you might deal with these’.
