About the role
The University of Leicester is one of the top 200 universities in the world, as well as the Daily Mail University of the Year 2025 and twice shortlisted for University of the Year (THE Awards 2024 and The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025).
Our dedicated staff and students work in cooperation to deliver research, teaching and learning of the highest quality. The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences provides a rich and culturally diverse environment where both students and staff can thrive in a demanding yet cooperative and friendly atmosphere.
We are looking for a candidate in the area of Distributed and High-performance systems, who will join the eponymous group led by Prof. Ashiq Anjum as a Professor or Associate Professor. The group has been successful in obtaining funding for a number of projects based on self-learning digital twins, and plans to expand into quantum distributed systems, quantum distributed machine learning and their applications in self-learning digital twins. Ability to strengthen any of these areas would be particularly welcome.
The School has research links with Space Park Leicester, the College of Life Sciences (including the Leicester Institute for Precision Health and the Leicester NIHR Biomedical Research Centre), and Institute for Environmental Futures at the University of Leicester and aims to strengthen and deepen these research links. The School is a founding member of the College of Science and Engineering’s Centre for AI, Data Analytics and Modelling (AIDAM), and has ambitions to lead a future University of Leicester research institute in Data Science. The candidate should be able to shape and strengthen these aims of the School.
This role involves fostering growth in research and teaching within their areas of expertise, as well as positively contributing to the development and support of the School, College, and University.
