Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) is a globally leading independent arts, design, performance and media university.
At AUB we nurture creativity, engage communities, collaborate with industry and make a difference.
Our commitment to EDI
Our core commitment to diversity, inclusion and a sustainable future truly values the diversity of our students and staff, creating an inclusive environment where everyone’s identities and talents are valued and respected. We welcome applications from all areas of the community and particularly encourage applications from people from ethnic minority backgrounds and people who are disabled, who are currently underrepresented in our workforce.
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Schools’ Liaison Officer to join our busy Brand, Marketing and Future Students team.
In this new role, you will work alongside the Head of the Future Students section of the team to develop AUB’s Schools Strategy and be responsible for leading the delivery of that strategy with your team and colleagues throughout the university.
The Schools Strategy, which sets out how the university plans and prioritises all Schools work, is the strategic underpinning for the work of the Future Students Team – it is where recruitment begins. The Senior Schools Officer will be responsible for building the prospect pipelines which support the core AUB offer at FE and UG Level.
This work is particularly important at a time when, in many schools, STEM subjects are being prioritised over arts subjects, creative education is becoming marginalised and the number of applicants wishing to study creative subjects beyond school are diminishing.
The Senior Schools Officer will proactively initiate and develop relationships with key feeder and target schools and colleges and lead on developing and delivering a range of outreach work including events, presentations, fairs, workshops and other activities to prospective students, parents, teachers and careers advisors. You will be required to collate and analyse related information, informing the future development and focus of the Schools’ strategy.
This role will also work closely with the Access and Participation Team, ensuring that the commitments of AUB’s Access and Participation Plan, specifically those targets around the recruitment of disadvantaged groups, are delivered.
The post holder will not just be an advocate for AUB, but an advocate for creative education.
The successful candidate will have excellent public speaking and presentation skills and ideally hold a degree or be able to demonstrate relevant experience. You will have strong interpersonal, project management and organisation skills. You will be able to evidence your experience of delivering presentations to a range of audiences and your ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders. You will have a good understanding of, and commitment to, the importance of widening access in Higher Education and a passion for creative arts education. We also require all candidates to have a full clean UK driving licence.
This position involves working with children (under-18s) / vulnerable people and therefore requires compliance with the University’s Safeguarding Policies, including the requirement for enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance prior to the commencement of employment. The University is committed to stringent Safeguarding practices, including in its practices around the recruitment and selection of staff, to positions which involve working with children and/or vulnerable people. The successful candidate will be required to complete AUB approved Safeguarding Training.
Our benefits
In meeting your performance expectations, each year you’ll have a salary increase in line with the grade of your role. As well as this there is an annual cost of living increase. AUB provides generous holiday entitlement, and you will be enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme (professional services staff) or the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (academic staff) from day one of employment. Along with subsidised bus travel, cycle to work and annual savings schemes, our broad range of benefits can be explored on the AUB careers website https://aub.ac.uk/working-at-aub.
AUB has an agile working policy, and flexible working can be considered. If you require support with your application or have any questions about the role or recruitment process, please email recruitment@aub.ac.uk . If you are disabled, we are committed to supporting you with any reasonable adjustments you require, so please email recruitment@aub.ac.uk and we’ll be in touch.
