EPSRC DRIVE-Health CDT in Data-Driven Health (DRIVE-Health) King's College London’s EPSRC DRIVE-Health Centre for Doctoral Training in Data-Driven Health trains the next generation of health data scientists, computer scientists, software developers, and AI and machine learning researchers - a crucial component in the drive towards sustainable, equitable global healthcare.

Fully funded studentships available for October 2025

Co-created with the NHS, patients, health tech and pharma, our interdisciplinary PhD training programme is delivered within an active NHS environment and focuses on optimising informatics technologies to address complex global healthcare challenges. By combining academic rigour with real-world applications, the EPSRC DRIVE-Health bridges the gap between complex healthcare needs and technological advancements.

There has never been a better time to start a PhD in health data science. There is a rapidly growing demand for experts who can harness the power of data to advance healthcare delivery and improve population health.

Through collaborations with over fifty partners and international networks, EPSRC DRIVE-Health enables the adoption of innovation in patient care and global population health on an unprecedented scale.

We are looking to recruit outstanding graduates from a variety of backgrounds to our 4-year PhD programme, and we welcome eligible Home and International applicants from any personal background who are pleased to join diverse and friendly research groups.

The EPSRC DRIVE-Health studentships provide a generous annual stipend, which is enhanced above the standard UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) rate. The EPSRC DRIVE-Health will also provide funds for research project support – travel, participation at national and international conferences, laptops etc.

Academic Requirements

Candidates should possess or be expected to achieve a 1st or upper 2nd class degree in a relevant subject including the biosciences, computer science, mathematics, statistics, data science, chemistry, physics, and be enthusiastic about combining their expertise with other disciplines in the field of healthcare.
