Based in Liverpool (flexible working opportunities available)
Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is a globally recognised centre of excellence for research and teaching in tropical diseases. As a world leader in translating academic research into tangible health impacts we are proud of the work we do and the impact this has on the people who need our help most. Ranked in the top 5.3% of universities in the world, 2nd in the UK for research impact through REF2021, and having recently celebrated our 125th anniversary, there has never been a more exciting time to join our organisation.
We’re looking to appoint a world leading immunologist with a strong record of working in the human pathogen and/or tropical disease research areas, as a Professor of Immunology. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to shape the research portfolio within immunology at LSTM.
Some of the key areas we are keen to explore include world leading research across major human infections to address unmet global health challenges, increasing capability of relevant in-house infection models that link to refined animal disease and human challenge models, and leveraging the strength of existing LSTM research centres for the discovery of antibody-based biologics as diagnostic or therapeutic tools, to meet the needs of neglected tropical disease and/or emerging disease.
