The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) is the first and only public, English-medium, and independent University in Iraq. The University was founded in 2006 by the current President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, His Excellency Nechirvan Barzani. It is dedicated to being the region’s leading centre of excellence in research and teaching and is committed to the dissemination and application of knowledge to further the industrial, economic, cultural, environmental and social development of the region.
Over the past fifteen years it has grown to over 2,200 students and around 180 staff with a diverse society of students, academics, scientists and admin staff who are responsible for offering a high standard education in different areas.
Our Quality Assessment team ensures that good quality of education is offered and internationally recognised academic standards are achieved, providing students with the knowledge and skills that are relevant to the job market locally and internationally. All our procedures and processes are compatible with the Quality Assurance policies of a number of international universities.
We are now seeking to appoint to the role of Director of Quality, Standards and Accreditation. Reporting to the VP Academic Affairs, the successful candidate will lead responsibility for the University’s systems and processes for securing academic standards and managing the quality of learning opportunities. They will oversee and coordinate local international institutional accreditation as well as subject-level and professional body accreditation.
Strong candidates will have significant experience of higher education administration gained in the context of an academic registry, quality assurance unit or similar as well as a comprehensive understanding of quality assurance in UK higher education, including the QAA and International Quality Review. A high level of cultural sensitivity and the ability to deal professionally with a wide range of stakeholders is essential.
