This post is an exciting opportunity to support the smooth running of the Centre for Evidence Based Hand.

Surgery (CEBHS) and Academic Orthopaedics, Trauma and Sports Medicine through the provision of high-quality administrative support. The post holder will take the lead on coordinating the organisation of the Nottingham Systematic Review Course (a highly successful, long-running 4-day course attended by national and international delegates). You will also take the lead on organising Hand Fracture Research Workshops, and will provide administrative support to the wider Academic Unit.

The post holder will co-ordinate travel for staff and students attending conferences and meetings. You will liaise with colleagues and teams within the Academic Unit, School of Medicine, the wider University, and with external organisations. Procurement using the University’s financial systems is part of the role, along with raising invoices, processing expense claim forms, financial housekeeping, and monitoring of the income and expenditure from courses and events.

Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills. A high degree of personal initiative, responsibility and self-motivation is required, along with a proactive approach to problem solving.

You should have a proven ability to manage a demanding workload involving multiple projects with accuracy and high attention to detail despite competing priorities and challenging deadlines.

Demonstrable experience of organising successful events is required, as well as the proven ability to work as part of a team and with little supervision at times.

Extensive IT knowledge, including MS Office and email, is required, as is accuracy, reliability and the willingness to learn new skills and procedures as required by changing University procedures and legislation. The ability to build working relationships within the School, University and with external suppliers is another important part of the role.

The post is offered on a permanent, part time (18 hours per week) contract.
