About the Faculty

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Registered or eligible to register as a family/systemic therapist with the UKCP and for membership of the UKCP’s College of the Family, Couple and Systemic Therapy. 
  • Knowledge of the AFT Foundation and Intermediate accreditation requirements.
  • Experience of teaching on a UK DClinPsy programme or other UK psychological professional training programme involving family therapy/systemic practice training.   
  • Experience of supervising clinical psychology or family therapy/systemic practice trainees on clinical placements. 
  • Significant clinical experience working in the NHS in the UK and providing family therapy/systemic practice in the NHS. 
  • Strong commitment to supporting culture, equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Skills and experience in leadership, project management and strategy implementation.
  • For clinical psychologise applicants: registered as Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). For other applicants: registration with appropriate professional organisation. 
  • Availability to work flexible hours, as teaching/supervision/meetings take place on Fridays (generally) and some Wednesdays  

Desirable criteria

  • Doctoral level professional qualification in Clinical Psychology (e.g. DClinPsy) or Systemic Practice 
  • Approved Systemic Supervisor status through having successfully completed an AFT accredited Systemic Supervision Course or via APEL route (accreditation of prior experience and learning route) 
  • Experience of working on a DClinPsy training programme or other professional training programme in the UK involving family therapy/systemic practice training.
  • Experience of undertaking assessments for therapists in relation to AFT accreditation.
  • Undertaking and publishing research relevant to clinical psychology, in peer-reviewed journals.

Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
