The Hellenic Observatory, recently established as an LSE Research Centre, is seeking a highly committed and motivated Administrator and Communications Officer to support our mission of enhancing and expanding our engagement with the public and the wider academic community through our communications activities. This is a key role within the Centre, requiring close collaboration with staff and faculty to develop and maintain the Centre’s communication and promotion of its activities, including events, research outputs, and opportunities through e-mail campaigns, social media, publications and the Centre’s website.
This role is also crucial in supporting the organisation of the Centre’s public events programme, assisting with all logistics, promotion, and on-the-day event support. Additionally, the role holder will provide core administrative support to the Centre, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the office, and will be responsible for organising and setting up the Centre’s research seminars programme, coordinating the visitors programme, and supporting the publication of the online discussion paper series.
The ideal candidate will have strong organisational and planning skills and enjoy working with social media and other communication tools. They should also have excellent oral and written communication abilities, time management skills, and the capacity to work in a busy office environment with competing deadlines. Proficiency in IT skills, including social media management, email marketing campaigns, and content management systems (CMS) for website updates, is essential as well as experience in the organisation of events, both online and in person. Knowledge of Greek language and an interest in contemporary Greece and Cyprus are desirable.
We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.
