About the Role
We are seeking a Digital Asset Specialist to join Archives and Special Collections within our Library Research Support Team. The post holder will support our newly established Centre for Digital Collections (CDC), which will digitise analogue archival collections, transfer born digital records, and support research projects and other activities in the Digital Humanities. To begin with you will be working to set up the CDC working with the Lead Archivist and the project team, including set-up, testing and commissioning the Digital Asset Management System (DAMS), preservation and online exhibition capabilities, followed by the set-up of the digitisation studio. The Research Support team comprises Archives and Special Collections, Open Research Services, and Research Reporting.
About You
You should have experience in operating digitisation equipment and handling archives and cultural material to create digital assets. You will understand the processes, procedures and standards required to manage these assets within a DAMS, to preserve and make them accessible. You will have experience of planning and managing projects to ensure the digitisation equipment is optimised to its fullest potential and be able to offer support and advice to colleagues on creating and transferring digital assets. You will be able to work with Library, IT and academic staff to develop our digital collection offering and will have an interest in facilitating service improvements and enhancing user experience.
