Research Associate in Bayesian optimisation and model-based design of experiments

About the role:

In collaboration with EPSRC, Imperial and the world’s leading Chemical Engineering Company, we are seeking a Research Associate to join the Innovative Continuous Manufacturing of Industrial Chemicals (IConIC) consortium.  The main aim of this Prosperity Partnership is to translate the UK’s scientific leadership in Flow Chemistry into industrial leadership and commercial value; to realise a step change in the implementation of continuous flow processing for the manufacture of high-value chemicals.

What you would be doing:

You will carry out a research project in the rapid optimization and modelling of tandem continuous flow processes, undertake project management and/or supervise multi-disciplinary teams.  You will explore this modelling and optimization using both model-based and data-driven approaches. Mathematical and computational challenges will arise from discrete decision.

What we are looking for:

• You must hold a PhD in computer science, chemical engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Practical experience of deploying, developing, and maintaining software, for example in connection to controllers or for open source projects.
• Bayesian optimization, design of experiments, and/or active learning
• Knowledge of analytical techniques and their implementation in processes
• Experience of interdisciplinary research and collaboration
