The School of Health & Social Care at Edinburgh Napier University is a vibrant academic community for over 3,400 students and 140 staff. Our strategic aim is to make an enduring impact on health, care and society in Scotland and beyond and we do that through the provision of high-quality programmes of education as well as research/knowledge exchange.
Currently, we are partnering with the National Robotarium, Heriot Watt University and Alzheimer Scotland to conduct a new study on how robots can be used to support the rehabilitation of those living at home with dementia.
As such, we are recruiting a state registered Occupational Therapist to take on the role of Research Assistant, and support the study on a 0.8 FTE basis for a 2-year fixed term.
The Role:
As Research Assistant, you will have the opportunity to take part in the study “Co-creating the future: the use of multifunctional robots in occupational therapy and dementia” as part of the Healthcare Technologies Research Group at Edinburgh Napier University.
The role will give you the remit to use your skills and experience of health and social care methods/approaches to create and administer relevant surveys, questionnaires and interviews, gathering qualitative and quantitative data to support the study.
Your excellent organisation, prioritisation and time management skills will serve you well as you work in partnership with our steering group to co-design this study, maintain organised records of all collected data and attend project meetings online and face-to-face as required.
Furthermore, your strong attention to detail and exceptional written/verbal communication skills will allow you to assist in the synthesis of your findings into presentable formats and contribute to the writing of reports, presentations, and proposals for publications.
This is a new and unique study, that will provide you with the chance to work with an internationally known research team and to commence a research career in healthcare technology and occupational therapy, while in turn collecting valuable data that could ultimately help to make advances in the healthcare assistance provided for people living with dementia, their families and caregivers the world over.
