Research Assistant (Fixed Term)

University of Cambridge - MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit

Department/Location: MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, Cambridge

We wish to appoint a Research Assistant to a research position at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, Cambridge, for a full time role duration of 1 years, in the first instance. The successful candidate will join the research programmes led by Prof Tamar Makin and support cutting-edge research programmes investigating the boundaries of brain plasticity for augmenting and restoring hand function and dysfunction, in both abled and disabled individuals.

The postholder would be responsible for running behavioural and neuroimaging experiments, as well as recording, organising, analysing, write-up and dissemination of data as part of a research team. The postholder will also provide support on ongoing and future research related to the neural representation of robotic body augmentation devices in healthy controls and clinical populations. Previous research experience with longitudinal motor learning studies, fMRI scanning procedures,  statistical methods and behavioural data collection, is essential. As one of the studies may target children with limb differences and patients (i.e., limb amputees or stroke), experience in working with children is highly desirable.

Please refer to the attached 'Further particulars' for more information about the responsibilities and requirements for the role. Please refer to the Plasticity Lab website to learn more about the research: plasticity-lab.com.
